You may have seen the video of Halo, a courageous dog who was honored at the 2016 Fur Ball. We are happy to report that he has been adopted! Please read the story below, with a new video link at the end (credit goes to Local 12).
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A local family said a special adoption gave them back a part of their lives.
This is the story of a dog named Halo, and she's had quite a journey to her forever home! Nearly 1,000 people saw her story recently at the SPCA Cincinnati Fur Ball, and many have been asking if she got adopted. Thanks to a young boy named Matthew and his awesome aunt, Halo did.
It's hard to believe it now but just a few months ago the 4-year-old American Bull Dog boxer mix, "She couldn't stand up she was so skinny, she was so skinny. She had an infected wound on her foot," said Lieutenant Brandon Corcoran of the SPCA.
Lieutenant Corcoran got the call she needed help, "We got a complaint from a neighbor that there was a sick, injured or ill dog laying in a flower bed that couldn't move."
Lieutenant Corcoran carried her to meet the team that went to work. When she first arrived she was in awful condition, very malnourished and very emaciated. They not only nursed her back to good health but the team named her.
Corrine Dates of SPCA said, "Halo just fit her, it fit her personality and it just fits her today we think."
But finding the right forever home wasn't so simple. Or at least it wasn't until Matthew and his Aunt Sharron came along. One of the reasons Halo was a little challenging to be adopted was that she had to be in a solo dog home. It was a friend who called and told Sharron about Halo needing a home.
Halo is Matthew and Sharron's perfect family fit!
